There’s one great thing about being a freelance graphic designer… I can work anywhere in the world. I can be on vacation in some warm country with my feet in the sand and all I need to work is an internet connection and my laptop. It also allows me to be a little flexible in where I live.

Why am I telling you this? Well, because in just over a month my family and I will be moving from Southern Ontario to Nova Scotia. I know, crazy right?!? My husband works in construction and although he has had a busy career it’s taken some toll on his body. It’s time for him to semi-retire. Why Nova Scotia? If you’ve ever been there you’ll know its a very beautiful province and it also happens to have properties that don’t require your first born child as a down payment – lol. We’ve lived in Southern Ontario all our lives and although it’s a great place to live it’s also getting to be a rather expensive place as well. We wanted to have a place on a body of water with a little bit of land and, of course, good internet. We fell in love with a place in Nova Scotia that checked all the boxes.

For most of my clients me moving to Nova Scotia will not make much of a difference. There’s many (or most) that I have never met face to face and quite a few that I’ve even never spoken to on the phone. All of my work for them has been done through emails. There are a few clients I’ve recently acquired that are close to where I live now that might miss me but there’s always Skype for those times I need to see them face to face 🙂

I hope you all join me on this journey. I’ll be blogging about it here and posting on Facebook and Instagram so be sure to follow me @pinklemonademedia

Now I have to go pack 🙂
